Meet Moto X Force : The Shatterproof Smartphone !

Motorola has been constantly pushing their limits with amazing phones every once in a while, and are definitely improving the standards of latest smartphones devices. From pocket-friendly gadgets like the Moto E, Moto G and the Moto X to high-end beauties like the Moto Droid and Moto Nexus 6, Motorola has an eye-catching view for any new customer looking for a new smartphone.

This year they came up with the Third generations of the Moto G and Moto X. People like me loved the phones, and were expecting more from the company. But who knew, they had a very different view for their latest flagship - The Moto Droid Turbo 2 ( Moto X Force all over world except USA )!

Release Date and Price :

The phone was revealed on October 27 and released on October 29, 2015 in partnership with Verizon. The phone is priced at $624 (Around INR 42,000 ) for the 32 GB version whereas the 64 GB is priced at $720 ( Around INR 48,000 ). But now the unlocked version is available on the Motorola Website allowing the customer the whole phone design with the help of Moto Maker.

Design And Build Quality :

The Droid Turbo 2 can be explained as a mixture of the Moto X Play and the Moto X Pure edition, but with a wider display. The back looks sexier with the new enforced ballistic nylon design. Motorola chose to use a flat surface in the center with slightly curved sides, which doesn't give a satisfying feel in the hand.

The sim-card slot supports 2 nano sim support, or a single sim with a microSD upto 128 GB (dope!). The placement of the sim slot is better as compared to previous device, which had the slot buried between the two volume-rocking buttons.

The phone has a mono speaker. The lower speaker is just there for symmetry ! ( I mean really, Motorola ? ). At the top are proximity sensors, notification LED and the LED flash.

Overall, the phone looks pretty sweet with the gripped-back. But the drawbacks are the speakers and the bigger bezels as compared to latest gadgets. Also even though the display is shatterproof, the aluminium case ain't ! It is prone to scratches, damages and bending.

Display :

Motorola has avoided putting up a fingerprint sensor on the devices' 5.4-inch AMOLED panel. The display is an "unbreakable screen". Motorola did a fantastic job of making a 2K (1440 x 2560 ) resolution display generating 544 pixels per inch ! According to the website, the display has 5 layers as follows :

First : External lens with a special coating, which is highly resistant to scratches and scrapes. The lens replaces the Gorilla Glass, which can be seen on the surface of phone.

Second : An integrated layer, which is more flexible than the regular glass. It doesn't affect colour reproduction or the sharpness of the image.

Third : This is the actual touch panel. The dual-touch panels is protected by the first two-layers to ensure the sturdiness.

Fourth : This is a flexible scree, names as P-OLED. The letter 'P' indicates plastic, referring to the flexible capacity of the panel. It is also a shock-absorbent.

Fifth : To ensure greater durability, Motorola developed an aluminium chassis. This is the most important stuff, as it absorbs most of the shock as the device hits the ground.

The sharpness and the viewing angles on the display are amazing. The touch-sensitivity is great, even with the anti-scratch film on it.

The company is so confident about its display, it has provided 4 years of warranty just for the display !

Battery :

The Moto Droid 2 has a 3760 mAh battery. I mean, that is pretty sick ! The company claims the battery can last upto 36 hrs with moderate use. The phone definitely needs a huge battery to power that display and the powerful processor. Motorola has taken care of that I'd say.

Final Verdict :

Motorola has taken a good step ahead in mobile-making industry. The phone reminds us of the good old Nokia phones ! But, the price can be a problem as the user will definitely think twice before looking into this device. Yes, Motorola has done three years of research on the ShatterShield, which is indeed a winner. If you are looking for a device in this price bracket, I'll definitely suggest you look into other options !
